NYC Day 2…. We don’t feel our legs after yesterday, but as they say… no pain no gain…. Or something like that ;) Our day started again at 5 am… jetlag doesn’t give up. Breakfast at our, yeah… day two and it’s already “our”…. Place across the street, and of we go. Plan for today: Time Square, Grand Central Station,5th Avenue, Rockefeller Centre with Top of the Rock and some shopping at Macy’s. We started off at Columbus Circle, cause there was some trouble with the subway (surprise, surprise :P ) crossed the border of Central Park and turned into 5th Ave. It’s a bit chillier today, but the sun is shining beautifully. Shopping at 5th avenue is a MUST of course and we bought… Lindt Chocolate :P Something we could afford :>
The Grand Central Station is hidden in between all those huge buildings with over 50 floors…. So you would think it kinda gets lost. But it’s everything but that. It looks great outside, and the inside is just spectacular. The selling with the horoscope signs painted – just impressive. From there we made it to Time Square. Whatever you’ve seen on pictures/TV/internet – it looks exactly like that :) Colorful, loud, crowdie, awesome. After some time of selfie shooting we made our way back to the Top of the Rock. On the way we stopped at this great store – M&M’s World :D Incredible what money you can make with just couple sweets and some good PR.
The time came for the clue of today’s little trip – the view of NYC from the 70th floor. This was my second time to do it… but it still was breath taking. Sun was shining a lot so we really took our time there to just enjoy it. And it actually paid off – suddenly there was some commotion and couple people passed us… after a while we realized that one of them seemed pretty familiar…. This guy was having a photo session… it was Chris Rock, the comedian :)
We decided to skip shopping for today, our feet were killing us, we added on them another 3-4km to the 11 we made the day before. So we got back to our hotel, chilled a bit and went for some early diner as the night still wasn’t other yet. A nice place around the corner for some nice meal…. Amazing that we have everything what we need max a block away. After that we were not able to resist a nap. And then it was time for the musical adventure.
We had tickets for The Phantom of Opera, the longest played musical on Broadway – 27 years. For me another dream came true, I wanted to see this musical since I was 6 years old. It was absolutely awesome. The show was just perfect – colorful costumes, great actors, fantastic orchestra…. And music by Andrew Lloyd Weber. For those who might not know:
